April’s Spark of Joy

April is a month of endings and beginnings. As I wait patiently for Spring to arrive in the high country, I find things to do inside still.

Listen to an episode of The Moth - Great stories that will make you laugh and maybe cry.

Dance to your favorite song - Whether you are spring cleaning, making dinner, or just walking the dog, try dancing while you do it. This is a quick way to bring joy into your life.

Hug a tree - Trees are our friends. They provide us with shade and oxygen; thank them by hugging them.

Eat a soft pretzel - Have you ever had a homemade pretzel? I personally think they are way better than those hard, crunchy ones.

Listen to Jazz - This one might seem hard, to dip your toes into the genre by looking for Charlie Brown music or Snoopy jazz.

Pick out your favorite piece of art - It could be one of the masterpieces, something created by a local artist, or something you created. Stop and think about what makes it your favorite, and see if you can bring that essence into your surroundings.

Watch a program on PBS - PBS is so much more than Sesame Street! Check them out!

Take a chance on something that scares you - As I started the post with, we are in the season of endings and beginnings. Take a chance on something you have been wanting to do but were too afraid to try before.

Eat a burrito - Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it doesn’t matter. Bonus points for making your own at home!

Make something by hand - It doesn’t matter if it is food or crafts, just try to do something with your hands.
