June’s Spark of Joy
At the beginning of the year, I started a series that encompassed choosing ten things that could spark joy in your life. My intent was to find simple things that would shake you and me out of the ho-hum patterns of everyday life without (hopefully) a lot of money or effort.
Below are some ideas for June. Pick and choose what sounds doable for you at the moment.
Play Old Maid - There is something so retro about playing cards, and it is a great way to slow down and connect with others.
Go to a city, state, or national park - Parks are a wonderful resource for all of us. We get to be close to nature without the upkeep.
Recommit to your New Year’s resolutions - We are starting the 6th month of the year! Is it time to recommit? Or at least review your progress.
Spend some time near water - Whether it is the ocean, river, stream, or lake, watching and hearing moving water is so relaxing.
Make a fruit pie - Oh, how I love pie! And it is finally time for the fresh-picked fruits to show up in your local stores. June is a great time to make a pie. Check out my recipe for all-purpose pie crust here.
Make sun tea - Set it up and forget. It can’t be simpler than that.
Smell a rose - Warning, the smell of a rose will conjure up memories.
Fly a kite - Did you know you could rent a kite?
Go on a photo shoot - Pick a theme and let the adventure begin!
Make a big salad for dinner - If the weather is heating up where you live, having a big salad for dinner instead of cooking is a great option.
